What Matters Most While Choosing A Home Remedy for Vaginitis

What Matters Most While Choosing A Home Remedy for Vaginitis

If you have been diagnosed for vaginitis and need a home treatment after every other treatment has failed, it is easier to know about a suitable home remedy for vaginitis from an old lady of your acquaintance or the one living in your neighbourhood who must have suffered from this disease at least once in her youth when home remedies were in common use, and only a few of the common or even the educated folks ever went to a physician for treatment. Home remedies were frequently used by the Native Americans and the other tribes in different parts of the world for their efficacy and natural healing power. Most of such remedies were prepared from plants and herbs. Now, their use has declined with the spread of westernized health care system and the invention of chemically prepared drugs that act fast to give a temporary relief due to their superficial action. That is why the home remedies have their importance in eliminating the health problems permanently by going to their very roots and are still widely used.

We may choose a particular home remedy depending upon its action on a particular organ of the human body. For example, Saw Palmetto has its affinity with the prostrate; Pipsissewa works on bladder and the urethra. Therefore, what matters most is to choose a home remedy that has its affinity with the particular organ of the human body for which it is needed. However, in some cases like vagina which has complex problems having multiple functions, we may try different home remedies for their general action depending upon the type of complaint. Vaginitis is caused by bacterial infection, and we need a remedy that is anti-bacterial in nature. There are so many of them to fight out bad bacteria:

Yogurt:

Plain yogurt is rich in probiotic cultures, and a cup of regular intake once a day keeps the bad bacteria under poor survival conditions due to increased acidic level in the vagina. It relieves burning and itching and considerably relieves bad odour.

Hydrogen Peroxide:

This is another good home remedy for vaginitis. However, its application over the vagina at once kills both the bad and the good bacteria. You get an immediate relief. However, whenever there is an unhealthy condition in the vagina during menstruation or whenever there is a lack of proper hygiene due to irregular baths and washing the parts, the bacteria are born again to cause recurring vaginitis.

Neem (Latin name: Azadirachta indica):

It is antibacterial, antiseptic and a perfect antibiotic. You can use the fresh or dried leaves and its bark for making the home remedy for vaginitis. Boil about a quarter of a lb. of leaves in half a gallon of water for half an hour and cool it down. You can store it in a bottle outside refrigerator. Put a few spoonful of this water in a bowl and warm it in a Microwave. Soak a cotton swab in this and apply it to vagina a few times replacing the cotton swab each time. This will kill the bacteria, remove foul odour from the vagina and also relieve burning and itching associated with vaginitis.

Though each of these home remedies is in wide use for vaginitis, you may also try apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil as external applications. These should not be used directly over the vagina in their original composition and should be mixed with one to ten parts of water before use.
